On the afternoon of February 2, Beijing time, the 2024 World Swimming Championships will be officially fired in Doha, Qatar. During the 16-day race, there will be six competitions: diving, synchronized swimming, open water swimming, water polo, swimming and high platform diving.
In order to make up for the lack of world competitions during the epidemic, FINA adjusted the World Championships to one year, and Budapest in 2022, Fukuoka in 2023, Doha in 2024 and Singapore in 2025 all held the World Championships one after another. This World Championships is not only the first Long Pool World Championships held in the Olympic year, but also held in winter for the first time, which has disrupted the pace of Olympic preparations for athletes from all over the world to some extent.

China diving team flew from Beijing to Doha on January 28th. This time, the diving dream team sent a total of 13 players, including 8 male players and 5 female players, among whom 12 were world champions and 6 had won Olympic champions. Huang Jianjie, who is under 14 years old, is the only non-world champion and the youngest player.
The diving event of Doha World Championships is the last stop to determine the seats for the Paris Olympic Games. There is no pressure on the China diving team, which won a full seat in the Olympic Games at the Fukuoka World Championships last year. Instead, it is the main task of this trip to practice by competition and maintain a good competitive state.
Judging from the specific events, the China diving team gave up two non-Olympic events: the women’s 1m springboard and the mixed doubles 3m springboard. However, in order to increase the experience of young athletes, Zheng Jiuyuan and Zhang Jiaqi/Huang Jianjie will participate in two other non-Olympic events, namely the men’s 1m springboard and the mixed doubles 10m platform.
In the highly competitive men’s diving field, hao yang and Lian Junjie will compete in the men’s synchronized 10m platform.
At last year’s Fukuoka World Championships, China’s diving dream team accidentally lost the gold medal in the men’s single 10m platform event. It is worth looking forward to whether hao yang can win back the championship with veteran Cao Yuan.

In the women’s diving field, the China team has more powerful dominance. In the women’s single 10m platform event, Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi will once again stage the peak confrontation. Whose "splash vanishing technique" is better this time? We will wait and see.
In the women’s 3m springboard event, the China diving team is also superior in strength. Chang Yani and Hazel Chen are both partners in the double event and will also compete in the single event.

Because of the long preparation time of swimming events, athletes often need to adjust their competitive state according to the competition. Many Olympic champions and world champions of China Swimming Team, including Wang Shun, Ye Shiwen, Zhang Yufei, Qin Haiyang and Xu Jiayu, will be absent from this World Championships.
The 21 athletes (13 women and 8 men) sent by China to participate in the swimming events of the World Championships will be led by teenagers. Li Bingjie, Pan Zhanle, Yu Yiting and Tang Qianting appear in the entry list, and rising stars Fei Liwei, Zhang Zhanshuo and Dong Zhihao will also appear in Doha.

As the only Olympic champion of the national swimming team in Doha World Championships, Li Bingjie is expected to hit a single gold medal in the women’s 1500m freestyle in the World Championships. Earlier, she said in an interview, "There are many strong opponents in this World Championships, but I will try my best to fight and seize the opportunity."
Yu Yiting, a 19-year-old from Zhejiang who won a bronze medal in the women’s 200m individual medley at the Fukuoka World Championships last year, swam 2 minutes 07.75 seconds in the Hangzhou Asian Games at home. After winter training, Yu Yiting is expected to achieve self-breakthrough while training in Paris at this World Championships.
For men, Pan Zhanle, also from Zhejiang, swam 47.43 seconds in the men’s 100m freestyle in Fukuoka World Championships, ranking fourth. Unfortunately, he failed to stand on the podium. At the Asian Games in Hangzhou, Pan Zhanle broke the Asian record and won the championship in the men’s 100m freestyle final in 46.97 seconds, which still has strong international competitiveness in the world. In addition, 16-year-old Shandong teenager Zhang Zhanshuo will have his first adult international competition. In the men’s water polo competition, China is in Group B with the world runner-up Greek team, the host of the Paris Olympic Games, France and Brazil, and the China men’s water polo team will fight for the Olympic seat in Lebanon.
